Lead Developer

The ELIAS solution that we provide focuses on data, collecting it accurately and consistently in the field and combining it with third party and proprietary data to identify trends and opportunities. ELIAS provides intelligent planning, maintenance, replacement schedules and helps asset owners understand their diverse estates.

The ELIAS system is moving to a target architecture based around ReactJS for the web, server-less infrastructure based on AWS, including lambda, cognito, etc. and best in class analytics and reporting solutions. We’re looking for someone who can lead the development on this.

Role and responsibilities

You will:

  • Lead a small group of developers, ensuring the team works effectively and meets its objectives
  • Ensure the appropriate processes, systems and people are in place to continually improve as a team, and that our applications are built to meet the moving needs of the business
  • Appraise the resources available in the industry, understanding their applicability to the specific problems of REAMS and driving the adoption of those selected through into use by our customers
  • Stay abreast of industry developments, in both REAMS business (asset management / built environment) and in relevant areas of technology generally, understanding their applicability to REAMS and their customers’ problems
  • Ensure the system is available, secure and performant
  • Support hiring and training to support the business’ growth

As an early stage team, the role is expected to change on a regular basis, so the chosen hire must be comfortable working in an environment like this, as workloads are spread around team members. You will be working out of our new office in Bristol and some out of hours work is likely to be necessary.

Ideal experience and knowledge

Outlined below is a description of our perfect candidate, though we don’t necessarily expect someone to have all of these:

  • Strong experience in a number of the technologies aligned to the target architecture
  • Worked with a number of languages, tools and frameworks
  • Worked with Javascript technologies – ideally ReactJS & NodeJs
  • Worked with cloud technologies – ideally AWS, serverless / lambda etc
  • Worked in an agile, fast moving environment
  • Led software development-based teams of three or more people
  • Knowledge of Elasticsearch and Kibana

Q1-2 2020 Objectives

  • Improve the output of the team
  • Improve the product
  • Complete the initial launch of the ELIAS next gen product
  • Support the creation of the operational processes to run the system in production

If you think you’re the right fit for this role, please send your CV and a cover letter over to [email protected]
